  • Are guides required to explore the caves?

    No. Most caves are open to self-exploration; however there are a few exceptions that are off-limits to protect natural and animal populations. Visitors can also participate in ranger guided tour of a public cave without the need for reservations. Stop by the Visitor Center for information about each cave.
  • Where is the nearest town for gas and food?

    Located about 30 minutes from the park, the town of Newell offers gas, ice and dining. There is also a supermarket just north of Newell in Tulelake. Soda, ice and snacks are available at the Visitor Center bookstore.
